What my O.P.G. † tells me: Some radiographical and radiological aspects of panoramic tomography
By: Johannes J. Keur
Abstract
Panoramic tomography is becoming increasingly popular in general .and specialist dental practice. Adequate interpretation is, however, militated against by the intricate composition of the image and therefore the diagnostic yield of this examination is often reduced. This paper aims to provide sufficient background information to enable the reader to recognise regular landmarks and positioning errors. In addition, typical advantages and disadvantages of this type of radiological examination are discussed. Finally, some observations with respect to radiation safety are made.
