Abstract
Although many experiments have been carried out involving radiographic cephalometry in animals, the general principles involved have rarely been discussed in publications. Increasing ethical restraints are being applied to experimental radiographic studies in man and this may inevitably lead to a much greater use of animals in orthodontic research.
There are relative merits in the use of various species for specific experiments and the experimental methods in animal cephalometry need careful scrutiny.
