Changing the vertical dimension of the face
Abstract
Orthognathic surgery either alone, or in combination with orthodontic treatment, frequently offers a satisfactory treatment for vertical skeletal discrepancies. This paper outlines the author’s surgical philosophy to clinical assessment and briefly outlines the clinical results of some of these treatment principles for cases with “deep” and “open” bite and those requiring “face” shortening and lengthening procedures.
