Kinship and the Fish

Abstract

I made this painting from reflections about an issue with pursuing kinship, belonging, friends, that special guy, a connection with cats, and something I REALLY want, but it escapes. And then it says “hi” again and I go after it. The more I go after it, the more it runs. Then I leave it alone, for real. I go away, to stay alone. At that moment it goes after me. The Buddhist inspired animation “The Monk and the Fish” by Michaël Dudok de Wit makes a lot of sense to me, and it inspired this painting. So there it is.
