Abstract

In his paper on “Shaping the Future of a Profession,” Waetjen (1992) challenged technology education to establish itself as an academic discipline. He emphasized four elements common to disciplines: domain, history, mode of inquiry, and instructive capability. In assessing these elements, Waetjen noted the lack of a history of technology education and also recommended the devel- opment of a framework for such a history.
