Abstract
The incorrect design or execution of joints contributes to higher costs through material, time and/or energy losses. Choosing the right type of joint, type of weld or manufacturing technology may not only significantly reduce the expenditure, but also considerably increase the design resistance of the joint itself. The paper shows how to use butt and fillet welds more economically.
