Abstract
The book review consists of an art catalogue of the exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts of Houston (USA) quit last Autumn: Contesting Modernity: Informalism in Venezuela, 1955–1975. The catalogue includes several articles by academic researchers, who problematize the absence of research on venezuelan art and informalism, as well as its absence in the art market. Given the current interest in Venezuela, the book provides critical thesis that are necessary for an enriched approach to the study of the country.
