Abstract

As the volume of scientific literature continues to grow at an impressive pace, so too does the diversity of tools and approaches that are being proposed to track this knowledge. In the midst of such a vast ecosystem of journals and software, identifying meaningful innovation, as well as continuing to innovate, is essential to the emergence of powerful, flexible and easy-to-use ‘channels’ which researchers need to navigate the current scientific literature. In this article, the author uses the example of his own information consumption habits to suggest what he sees as the key components of such channels.
