Abstract

The diagnosis of Leber’s hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) in 6 female atypical cases seen at Harvard, Emory, and Johns Hopkins Medical Centers required molecular analysis and demonstration of the 11778 mitochondrial DNA mutation for accurate confirmation.
