A positive 14-3-3 protein assay of CSF was observed in 29 of 38 patients with GBS and in 4 with motor neuron disease and other neuropathies studied at Universities of Milan and Verona, Italy. The protein is detected as early as 12 to 48 hours after disease onset and represents a useful biological marker in GBS. [1]
