Bilateral Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Lung in Association with Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis
Abstract
Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis is a benign epithelial neoplasm which most frequently affects larynx and trachea and rarely extends to lung parenchyma. Transformation to malignant tumour is distinctly rare. Here we report a well-documented, morphologically proved and surgically treated case of bilateral pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma in a young adult male with recurrent respiratory papillomatosis. The aim of the report is to heighten the awareness of malignant transformation in such patients.
