THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD STRATEGIC AND OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT IN INTEGRATED ASSERTIVE OUTREACH

Background: Patients, clinicians, researchers, and policy makers have long called for greater integration of services for people with severe mental illness (SMI) and often co-occurring disorders, and Integrated Care (IC) are seen as the only interventions proven to work well. How can we achieve this?

 

Method: Reflexive Thematic Analysis (RTA) of focus group interviews of team members in three Norwegian FACT teams, and knowledge-based IC and practice as a manager and project manager implementing the first FACT team in Norway.

 

Results: RTA from the interviews regarding Managament will be presented. Good Strategic and Operational Management is one important factor in achieving Integrated Assertive Outreach for people with SMI and often co-occurring disorders. Maybe Management is our Achilles heal, Miller and Stein (2020) from IFIC - the International Foundation for Integrated Care wonders. Bhat et al (2022) found that leadership is deemed to be the most influential factor due to its intrinsic and instrumental role in influencing the other key factors in IC. Plsek & Wilson (2001) argues that poor Management (hierarchy based on command and control methods) can be the biggest barrier in the complex health systems

 

Conclusion: Good Strategic and Operational Management can be an important influencing factor in achieving Integrated Assertive Outreach, and I will present a model to follow up this.
