Abstract
Cultural narratives around youth as untrustworthy, irresponsible, and deficient in knowledge and independence, however, can create tension within a shared environment. Publicly accessible space is not neutral ground in an adult-centric society where biases against youth pervade and inhibit. This research study examines the regular youth presence at Starbucks and what it can show about society’s attitudes towards teenagers in public spaces.
