Pi Gamma Mu Centennial History: The Winfield, Kansas into which the Honor Society was Born
Abstract
Winfield, Kansas is the historic and continuing headquarters of Pi Gamma Mu, one of the preeminent social science honor societies in North America dating back to 1924. Winfield, Kansas is also the historic headquarters and center for the 1890s Populism of the farming Midwest and myne own sinful farming South. Along with the fine history of Pi Gamma Mu produced by longtime trustee and college leader Dr. Clara Smalls, this one hundredth volume of ISSR seems a good place to review the setting in which our social-science honor society came into being.
