Tracing Colonial Spanish Florida through Bioarchaeology

This research is focused on analyzing the osteological record and broader archaeological record of Spanish colonial Florida’s native populations. This osteological and archaeological record provides information that can explain what happened to their communities in conjunction with the standard historical literature, bringing a new context to what Florida historians may find significant. Therein presents evidence of events such as sickness and disease, migration, and other activities on a clear and readily visible scale that personifies individuals of the time through the remains they left behind. This research is conducted through cross-referencing previously established literature on the topic.
