The Jeremiad, Exceptionalism, and Terrorism in America

The Jeremiad and the concept of American Exceptionalism are still shaping American politics and culture. Utilizing Todorov's concept of the other, this paper demonstrates how under the Trump administration, despite an increase in extreme right wing rhetoric and attacks, terrorism is still defined as something from the outside, usually to be associated with the "Muslim" threat.
