Aims and scope

Forestry Studies | Metsanduslikud Uurimused is an international peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Institute of Forestry and Engineering, Estonian University of Life Sciences. Founded in 1939, the journal provides a platform for the dissemination of high-quality original research and scholarly discussion in forestry and related environmental sciences.

The journal welcomes submissions from researchers worldwide and aims to advance knowledge of forest ecosystems, sustainable forest management, forest resources, and the interactions between forests, society, and environmental change. While maintaining an international scope, the journal has a particular regional focus on boreal, hemiboreal, and temperate forest ecosystems.

The journal publishes research across a wide range of forestry and related disciplines, including forest ecology, silviculture, dendrology, dendrochronology, tree growth and yield modelling, remote sensing and geospatial analysis, tree physiology, forest genetics, forest entomology, biodiversity conservation, forest health and pathology, forest operations and engineering, forest economics and policy, ecosystem services, wood anatomy, wood science, forest responses to climate change, and other closely related fields.

Forestry Studies | Metsanduslikud Uurimused publishes original research articles, review papers, short communications, and technical reports. The journal primarily publishes manuscripts in English and encourages interdisciplinary research that contributes to the sustainable management, conservation, and understanding of forest ecosystems at regional and international scales. Contributions in Estonian may be accepted when relevant to the journal’s scope and readership.
