The study evaluates the role of microclimate control and biosecurity measures in the intensive rearing of broilers under small-farm conditions. A descriptive case study was conducted in a 400 m² production hall populated with approximately 8,000 broiler chicks, mainly Ross 308 and Plymouth Rock Barred hybrids, reared on a slatted floor system during the first 3-4 weeks of life. The assessment included the construction characteristics of the hall, ventilation, temperature, relative humidity, lighting, stocking procedure, manure removal and sanitation measures. The calculated initial stocking density was 20 chicks/m², while the recommended operational microclimate targets were 30-33 °C at chick placement, 50-70% relative humidity, approximately 21% oxygen concentration and 8-10 lux light intensity during the first month. The slatted system reduced direct contact between chicks and manure, facilitated manure evacuation, improved hygiene and shortened the preparation time between production cycles. The results confirm that microclimate stability and strict biosecurity are essential for maintaining chick welfare, limiting disease risk and improving the efficiency of broiler management in small intensive farms.

The Daffodil Meadow in the Neajlov Valley is a small botanical protected area of national interest whose conservation value is linked to the population of Narcissus stellaris and to the ecological functions of the Neajlov meadow. The study assesses the main pressures and threats affecting this protected area, clarifies the methodological steps used for evaluation, and proposes management measures adapted to the conservation objective of the reserve. The analysis combines documentary sources, legal and management references, field observations, and a qualitative pressure-impact matrix. The main pressures identified are uncontrolled visitor access during the flowering period, grazing and trampling, waste accumulation, hydrological changes, agricultural inputs from the surrounding landscape, and insufficient permanent monitoring. The recommended measures include seasonal access control, marked ecological trails, annual population monitoring of Narcissus stellaris, cooperation with local communities and authorities, and clearer reporting of conservation indicators.

Reproductive efficiency is essential for the profitability of dairy farms. The key to profitability and sustainability lies in herd management and operational efficiency. From an economic standpoint, poor management leads to increased involuntary culling (removal of cows from the farm) and longer calving intervals, directly resulting in a reduction in the number of calves born and in the total amount of milk produced over the cow’s productive life. To determine the intelligent and efficient management of reproductive performance on dairy farms, research was conducted at the SC Agro Chirea SRL farm in the village of Rusănești, Rusănești commune, Olt County, with an average herd size of 581 Holstein-Friesian cows, a breed specialized for milk production, during the analyzed period (January 1, 2023 – June 20, 2025). To evaluate the reproductive efficiency and performance of cows used for milk production, the study analyzes the following reproductive indices as key parameters: age at first calving, average calving interval, service interval, insemination rate, and pregnancy rate.

Domestic animal biodiversity represents a strategic component of food security and agricultural sustainability, yet its dynamics are strongly influenced by economic and institutional transformations. In Romania, the transition from a centrally planned economy to a market economy, the restructuring of agriculture, and the integration into the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) have generated major structural changes, whose effects on livestock biodiversity have been insufficiently investigated from a quantitative perspective. This paper aims to econometrically analyze the determinants of domestic animal population dynamics in Romania, using time-series and panel data structured by species, in order to assess the impact of economic transitions, agricultural policies, and rural socio-economic changes. By introducing dummy variables associated with major structural breaks and estimating regression models, the study captures the differentiated effects of regime changes on livestock biodiversity. The results suggest that structural and species-specific factors play a more significant role than aggregate policy variables in explaining livestock population dynamics, while policy effects appear to be indirect and heterogeneous. These findings contribute to the existing literature by providing an empirical assessment of the relationship between economic processes and domestic animal biodiversity, offering analytical support for the design of public policies aimed at the conservation of animal genetic resources and the sustainable development of agriculture.

Setting up an agritourism guesthouse combines hospitality services with agricultural activities, offering tourists an authentic rural experience. The first step involves selecting a picturesque rural location and owning an agricultural holding (such as an orchard, animal farm, or vegetable garden), as agritourism entails providing meals prepared from locally sourced or self-produced products, as well as accommodation within the host’s household. From a legal point of view, establishing an agritourism guesthouse requires registering it under a legal form (Limited Liability Company – LLC, Authorized Natural Person, or Individual Enterprise) and obtaining a classification certificate from the Ministry of Tourism. The essential conditions include accommodation capacity (between 3 and 8 rooms), compliance with sanitary, fire safety and environmental regulations. Financing can be self-funded or through European Union funds, which encourage the diversification of the rural economy. Success largely depends on the quality of services provided, effective promotion through online platforms and the organization of recreational activities, such as horse riding, craft workshops or guest participation in agricultural work.

In this study, there are given biochemical characteristics and activity of the enzyme laccase in grape juice and wine obtained from healthy and diseased grapes, which is caused by Botrytis cinerea. The study provides chemical indicators of healthy and diseased grapes and wine and the obtained data are compared with each other. The enzyme laccase belongs to the oxidase type of enzyme, that can chemically activate phenolic compounds and promote their oxidation. As a result, this process could affect on the taste, aroma, and color of wine. The main goal of this work was to determine the level of laccase activity in diseased grapes and its impact on the main characteristics of wine: chemical composition, color, aroma, taste, structure, body and others. In the study a spectroscopic method was used to determine laccase activity. The same method was used to determine the color intensity of wines obtained from healthy and diseased grapes. It was determined, that the wine was oxidized and brownish pigments predominated. In addition, glucose and fructose were determined in the samples by HPLC. It was determined, that the juice of grapes infected with Botrytis cinerea contained 1.2% more sugar, than the juice of healthy grapes.

Georgia, recognized as the cradle of wine and viticulture, preserves an exceptional grapevine gene pool of over 525 autochthonous cultivars, forming a vital foundation for modern breeding programs focused on developing disease-resistant and high-quality varieties. This study reports the preliminary results from 2024-2025 of a complex study including enological, enochemical, and organoleptic characteristics was conducted of three Georgian breeding cultivars - Tabidziseuli, Kakhuri Tetri, and Daisi - selected for their productivity, and enological potential which was selected based on the available information on these varieties. This study aimed to evaluate the ripening dynamics, technological maturity, and enological potential of three Georgian grape cultivars - Daisi, Tabidziseuli and Kakhuri Tetri - over a two-year period 2024-2025. Initial juice sugar concentrations ranged from 18.5-22.5 % values. In the second year, harvest dates were determined individually for each variety according to their specific ripening patterns. The ripening period was observed between March and October 2025. The earliest harvest was completed between September 17 and October 14. Juice yield ranged from 41% to 53%. Sensory evaluation was also conducted for the wine produced from the Daisi cultivar, which revealed its profile characterized by moderate alcohol content, above-average acidity, and below-average tannin levels. These characteristics underline the background information identifying this grape as a suitable cultivar for cold and high-altitude mountain regions. These results provide insights into the phenological behavior and technological potential of local cultivars, supporting their optimal use in differentiated enological approaches and future vineyard management strategies.

Taste and aroma perception are increasingly recognized as neuroplastic processes shaped by exposure, cognitive engagement, and cultural factors. While innate human taste evolution favors sweetness and aversion to bitterness, professional wine evaluation emphasizes acidity, tannins, astringency, and aromatic complexity. Existing sensory studies largely compare novices to experts, but empirical evidence on the short-term timescale required for perceptual transformation remains limited. This study investigates whether structured sensory training can accelerate adaptation and modify taste preferences within twelve weeks. The aim of this research is to analyze how structured sensory education programs influence the plasticity of human taste, the capacity for sensory discrimination and the evolution of wine preferences in a short period of time. The study aims to determine whether and to what extent systematic exposure to sensory training sessions can transform the consumer’s taste profile and improve tolerance and appreciation for complex wines.

Quality can be defined as the ability of a product or service to meet the expectations of its users efficiently, quickly and at a lower cost. Accounting information is considered a product whose main objective is to provide useful information that meets the needs of various users. In other words, it consists of processed data, derived from accounting records, prepared according to specific rules (accounting standards) to reflect the economic (or legal) situation of the company. It is important to emphasize that accounting information cannot be separated from financial information. Although financial information may differ from accounting information due to adjustments made from a financial perspective, its fundamental substance remains based on accounting. This information is used to assess the financial situation, performance and prospects of a company and is often intended for investors. Defining criteria for the quality of accounting and financial information is not an easy task, as it depends on the institutional, economic and legal framework in which it is standardized. Therefore, we aim to answer the following questions: What are the theoretical foundations underlying the production of high-quality accounting information? How is the quality of accounting information defined in the specialized literature? What is the relationship between the quality of accounting information and internal control in agricultural companies and economic links with cultural institutions? Thus, we focus on the organization of the company’s accounting department through which we intend to evaluate the impact of the characteristics of the accounting department on the behavior of its managers in terms of producing and disseminating high-quality accounting information, so as to contribute to effective partnerships between the agricultural sector and cultural institutions. Given the “Quality of accounting information” that we want to explain, we prefaced its explanation by breaking it down into a second-order construct “Organization of the company’s accounting department” associated with three first-order variables: “Department morphology”, “Degrees of computerization” and “Accountant profile”.

The flora of Georgia is distinguished by the biodiversity of the wild Eurasian grapevine (V. vinifera L.), which includes the wild (forest) vine V. vinifera ssp. sylvestris Gmel., wild cultivated grapevine accessions V. vinifera ssp. sativa DC., and transitional forms between accessions and the wild grapevine V. vinifera ssp. silvestris Ram. Since the second half of the 19th century, as a result of the spread of pests (phylloxera) and fungal diseases introduced from America, wild and transitional grapevines have become rare in the environment. Therefore, the study of the carpological and enological characteristics of six wild grapevine forms preserved in the grapevine collection of the Agricultural Scientific Center, in relation to control varieties, is of particular interest to our research. Experimental wines were made from three forms, and their chemical and organoleptic characteristics were determined.
Over the past two decades, numerous epidemiological investigations have examined the relationship between alcohol intake and various health outcomes, including overall mortality, arteriosclerotic vascular diseases, hypertension, cancer, and age-related macular degeneration. These studies have commonly assessed health outcomes across different levels of alcohol consumption, comparing moderate consumers to total abstainers. Many such studies have demonstrated a relatively reduced risk for certain conditions among moderate drinkers, thereby supporting the notion that low-to-moderate alcohol intake, especially in the form of wine - may confer health advantages. Wine, particularly red wine, is notably rich in phenolic compounds such as resveratrol and flavonoids. These bioactive constituents positively modulate key biochemical systems: they enhance levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, exhibit antioxidant activity, reduce platelet aggregation and endothelial adhesion, and may inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells. The present study employed the method of documentary research, grounded in a critical analysis of pertinent scientific literature within the fields of medicine, nutrition, and public health. Although compounds in wine, such as resveratrol, exhibit anti-cancer properties in laboratory settings, these findings do not justify increased wine consumption for preventive purposes.

Hazelnut propagation has been done over the centuries through suckers, layers and later by grafting. The development and modernization of hazelnut cultivation as a result of the need to increase nut production and quality directly involves the mechanization in the orchard, but also improving the propagation of cultivars. Present study had the aim to evaluate the bench grafting behavior of several Romanian cultivars alongside with Tonda Gentile dele Langhe, on two rootstocks (C. avellana and C. colurna) using different grafting methods. Grafting was performed in March and was followed by callus stimulation in a hot – callusing device, ensuring a temperature of 26 - 27°C at the grafting point. Grafting on C. avellana rootstock using the whip and tongue method proved to be superior (82.34% symbionts with callus formation; 75.3% grafting success rate and 70.2% survival rate of grafted plants after one year), to other grafting methods (cleft and lateral grafting). On C. colurna rootstock, 56.6% of the symbionts had callus formation; the grafting success rate was 52.0% while and the survival rate of grafted plants after one year was 45.1%. The grafting success rates using whip and tongue method on C. avellana of Romanian cultivars ranged between 66.5 and 82.25%, while for TGDL was 78.4% and on C. colurna varied between 42.85 and 64.0%, compared with 46.7% for TGDL. The average growth of the hazelnut scions in the first year of vegetation after grafting was 35.2 cm on the C. avellana rootstock and 18.1 cm on C. colurna.

The acquisition and expansion of apple varieties genetically resistant to diseases in cultivation have the effect of reducing the number of pesticide treatments, from 14-16 as is done in current plantations with classic varieties, to only 6-8 in orchards with genetically resistant varieties, positively reflecting in the reduction of production costs. Varieties susceptible to diseases, Ionathan, Golden delicious, Grupa Stark, represented the basis of the apple assortment 20-30 years ago, but in recent years, apple varieties with genetic resistance to diseases have increasingly appeared: Prima, Florina, Romus 3, Real, Revidar, Dacian, Inedit, etc., which will quickly enter cultivation and compete with sensitive apple varieties. Apple cultivation in our country has expanded into established fruit-growing areas, where they find the most favorable conditions for growth and fruiting. However, studies must be undertaken to highlight the influence of climatic factors on the quantity and quality of fruit production. In apple, as in other fruit species, a decisive role in increasing production potential is represented by the respect of genetic and technological elements, but also by appropriate zoning, depending on the recommended varieties and crop systems. Therefore, it is necessary to expand the cultivation of apple varieties that behave best with respect to the influence of climatic factors, but also in terms of productivity and fruit quality. Lately, the varieties that are starting to be part of the assortment of newly established orchards are apple varieties with genetic resistance to diseases. The Voinești Fruit Growing Research and Development Station, promoter of the disease-resistant apple variety, through the research undertaken and the newly obtained varieties, creates the premises for the development of modern fruit growing and the expansion of orchards, with possibilities for obtaining productions with reduced phytosanitary product residues, requested by consumers, and for protecting the environment.

Sweet chestnut was propagated till now in Romania mainly through seeds, and the trees obtained show a highly variable biological and economic behavior. Under current conditions of development and modernization of fruit growing, chestnut planting material for modern orchards should be obtained through clonal propagation. In the present study we aimed to propagate two Romanian sweet chestnut cultivars (‘Casval’ and ‘Romval’) and two French ones (‘Bouche de Bétizac’ and ‘Marsol’) using different grafting methods inside and in the field. As rootstock, local Castanea sativa seedlings were used. The bench grafting methods performed were: whip and tongue, cleft and side grafting followed by callus stimulation into a hot callusing device which provides temperatures of 26-27°C at the grafting point. In the nursery field same methods were used and also chip budding. Higher success rates were obtained for all cultivars when bench grafting was carried out inside (79.86%) compared with grafting in the field (69.94%). The highest success percentages were achieved inside when whip and tongue method was performed (85.33%), followed by cleft grafting (81.9%). The success rates obtained were: ‘Bouche de Bétizac’ (86.2%), ‘Marsol’ (85.27%), ‘Casval’ (75.0%) and ‘Romval’ (73.0%). In order to highlight the propagation capacity, the "Grafting Success Index" was determined, using three elements: callus formation, grafting success rate after callusing and grafting success rate at the end of the growing season. The scion/rootstock/grafting point ratio, as well as the scion growth in the first and second year after grafting, proved that the cultivars were compatible with the rootstock used. The results obtained in the given conditions allows us to recommend the adequate grafting methods in order to propagate the four sweet chestnut cultivars.
