Ransomware is an evolving cyber threat that continues to challenge organizations in the United States (U.S.). This study examines ransomware trends and defense strategies across healthcare, finance, and education from 2019 to 2023. Using a mixed-methods approach that combines survey data from 154 professionals with industry reports, the study identifies healthcare as the most vulnerable sector, finance as sustaining the highest losses, and education as facing the longest recovery times. The rise of ransomware-as-a-service and artificial intelligence (AI) has increased the complexity of attacks. Effective defense requires a coordinated approach to technical, organizational, and regulatory measures that build adaptive resilience.

This article reconceptualizes drawing from imagination as a distributed social practice and develops an empirically grounded triadic model that informs the design and assessment of visualization-literacy instruction. A mixed-methods pilot study with 30 Czech secondary-school graphic design students (March–June 2025) combines observation, questionnaires, and artifact analysis across three task regimes and age cohorts. The analysis identifies five repertoires and three recurring thresholds, interpreting difficulties as translation bottlenecks between modalities and between mental models and marks on paper. Visualization literacy is framed as a transferable material-discursive competence, and a triadic model is proposed as a portable script for assessing visualization-literacy activities.

This article aims to assess how Czechia has shaped and implemented its policy toward Ukraine during the war, with particular attention to the interaction between political discourse and material assistance. Using securitization theory, it examines political, military, economic, and humanitarian support framing. A case study methodology based on official documents, statistics, and secondary sources shows that Czechia became one of Ukraine’s most active supporters relative to its size and Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The study highlights the securitization of the topic and frames the Russian invasion as a Central European threat. The conclusion emphasizes the uniqueness of Czech initiatives and the implications for domestic politics and international commitments.

Language interference is a key challenge in foreign language acquisition. When learning a second language, students transfer the knowledge from their mother tongue. This article focuses on transfer and interference phenomena between two closely related Slavic languages: Czech and Russian, in the context of teaching Czech as a second language. In particular, the grammatical patterns comprising the copula verb (present indicative) and the auxiliary verb (the compound past indicative) are examined. The study analyzes frequent errors collected from 15 Russian-speaking students from Kazakhstan during classroom interaction in May-June 2025. Furthermore, a marginal analysis on verbs of preference (mít rád, rád) is performed. The findings are used to formulate proposals for teaching methodology.

This book review presents an analysis of the key concepts and arguments presented in the novel book by Arthur Benz. Starting with the book’s justification, the author proceeds to subsequent chapters that touch upon the conceptualization and methodological operationalization of multilevel governance (MLG), its related logics and processes, legitimacy, public participation, and the implications of identity politics. While providing a much-needed conceptual overview of its complexities, the contribution falls short in providing the required methodological guidance for some of the proposed concepts, such as the three power types and modes of governance.

This article investigates the semantic and political evolution of royal titles in France from the Merovingian period to the French Revolution. By analyzing original royal seals and avoiding interpretative distortions from later copies and translations, the study identifies the first monarch to adopt the title “roi de France” in vernacular French. It argues that title changes reflect shifts in political regimes rather than linguistic trends. The article proposes 24 April 1617, the day of Louis XIII’s Coup de Majesté, as the symbolic birth of the modern French State.

Erving Goffman (1922-1982) significantly shaped modern sociology through his contributions to microsociology, particularly his theories of symbolic interactionism and dramaturgical analysis. This article examines Goffman’s theoretical frameworks, with a particular emphasis on his dramaturgical analysis, which likens social interactions to theatrical performances, and his frame analysis, which investigates how individuals construct and interpret social realities. The research is based on a qualitative analysis and key scholarly interpretations (comparative, textual, and conceptual). Drawing from the Chicago School of Sociology, Goffman’s work integrates insights from Max Weber and George Herbert Mead to analyze how individuals navigate social roles, stigmas, and institutional structures.

This article examines how a Blended Intensive Program (BIP) can support the development of key labor-market competencies. The aim is to explore how participation in a BIP contributes to students’ acquisition of future-ready skills. The authors qualitatively analyzed final posters from international student teams in a 2025 BIP on “AI in Practice” within the Euroregion Neisse. The reported learning outcomes were mapped to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs 2025 taxonomy. Results indicate concurrent development of technical skills (Artificial Intelligence or AI and data literacy) and transversal capabilities (analytical thinking, leadership, empathy, multilingualism). The study empirically proves that short, international, collaborative, blended formats foster future-ready competencies.

Digital fatigue may be mitigated through gamification by improving user engagement and motivation, reducing the adverse effects of extended screen time. Gamification, integrating game design elements into non-game contexts, has emerged as a promising strategy to enhance user engagement, motivation, and behavioral outcomes in digital health interventions. In this article, a systematic literature review aimed to explore gamification’s role in digital health interventions. Results show that gamification improves motivation, adherence, and outcomes by using game elements. However, the true potential of gamification in mitigating digital fatigue remains highly unexplored. Differences in the data of the study populations and methods limit direct comparisons.

Integrating augmented reality (AR) into engineering education can enhance the learning experience for complex concepts. This study presents an AR application’s engineering process and prototype for the Zittau Flow Tray using (ZFT) Microsoft HoloLens 2 and Unity 3D. The application provides information on sump recirculation operations after a loss-ofcoolant-accident in pressurized water reactors. Key features include interactive 3D models, flow simulations, and dynamic information overlays. Initial testing validated the application's core functionalities, though challenges such as user positioning accuracy and real-time data integration remain. Future enhancements will focus on refining these aspects and broadening the application’s usability across various AR platforms.
